Fullerton College Facilities Master Plan, North Orange County Community College District
Fullerton
California

The Fullerton College Facilities Master Plan revitalizes institutional identity at the seams between campus and community, creating new gateway districts for student life and community participation. A campus bisected by a city street and characterized by service-access at its campus perimeter, is re-imagined as a new, more welcoming urban campus, decidedly more student and community focused at its perimeter, with visible connections directly to its historic core. Student life, community-serving programs, and enhanced mobility curate and reshape the campus by strengthening the visibility of academic and associated student programs to the community at large.

A Welcome Center, Mobility Hub, and Performing Arts district will frame new campus gateways along the campus’ southern perimeter to the heart of the campus quads, extending views and pathways to and from the historic campus central quad. Critical student-serving programs for student government, clubs, Veterans and other organizations will redefine the campus’ city facing edges and provide key elements of a vibrant co-curricular urban college experience. The Facilities Master Plan will also connect existing and proposed campus programs and spaces throughout its 83-acre campus with a new student promenade, campus quads, plazas and garden. Parking capacity and safety is enhanced with integrated solar arrays and accessible walkways connecting to the campus open space framework . The plan will create a vastly improved wayfinding network, with more accessible spaces where students, faculty, staff and members of the community can meet and engage with one another.
