Will Longyear

Will Longyear is a senior designer and project manager with over 25 years of experience in the design and construction of of higher education buildings on campuses across the country, with an emphasis on academic research facilities. Will enjoys working closely with researchers to develop collaborative research, learning and working environments that respond to the specific needs of the research and support the unique culture of the institution. He believes that listening is the essential first step to creating responsive design solutions.
Will led the design development for the Information Technology College at the new Shanghai Tech University in China and is presently working on the new computer science research building, Engineering VI, Phase 2 at University of California, Los Angeles. In a prior association, Will led several projects on the University of Southern California campus, including major renovations at the Marshall School of Business.
Will brings to his work a lifelong fascination with how things are made and a sensibility for simple and straight forward solutions. Early in his career, Will worked in construction and currently makes furniture. His experience and love of craft informs his design process and guides the technical development of the work. Will received his Bachelors of Architecture from University of Southern California, followed by post graduate study at the Architectural Association in London, England. He is a Registered Architect in the State of California.
