Located on the central Academic Quad, the ShanghaiTech School of Entrepreneurship and Management reflects the rising importance of business education within a research-driven university. The building’s prominent placement and symbolic entry “Icon” signal entrepreneurship, collaboration, and global engagement.
The school is arranged around an oval central courtyard that serves as the primary circulation and social space. Simple, purpose-driven building forms define the courtyard, creating a memorable identity and strong indoor–outdoor relationships. Phase One includes two buildings linked by a shared Atrium/Gallery—a flexible forum for interaction within the School and with other disciplines.
Large case-study classrooms and breakout rooms line generous circulation zones to encourage informal discussion and group work. Traditional classrooms and a lecture hall are positioned near the Atrium for easy access and student flow. Faculty and administrative offices face the courtyard, grouped into suites that support teamwork and focused research.
Phase Two extends the school along its southern and eastern edges, completing the courtyard and reinforcing key campus circulation routes while allowing construction to proceed efficiently over time.
