Neal Matsuno joined the firm shortly after graduating from University of Southern California in 1984. While leading projects, Neal is recognized for combining design sensitivity with skills in technical coordination throughout the design process. Neal is the Principal-in-Charge of large-scale projects involving multiple user groups, and detailed program requirements, such as the Sloan School of Management Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Claremont McKenna College Master Plan, as well as detailed historical transformation of the recently completed Glorya Kaufman Hall Center for World Arts and Cultures at UCLA.

Neal’s areas of special expertise include architectural lighting design, and he has won numerous lighting design awards for his work. Neal has had major responsibility for lighting design and technical detailing for projects including the MIT Sloan School of Management, UCLA Glorya Kaufman Hall, the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, Law Library at University of California, Los Angeles, and the firm’s residential projects.
